US Central Command commander General Kenneth McKenzie admits the United States made a "mistake" when it launched a drone strike against suspected Islamic State militants in the Afghan capital Kabul on August 29, confirming that it killed 10 civilians instead. The alleged mastermind of the 2014 attack on a school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar has been killed in a U.S. drone strike, the Pakistani military said.

The Pentagon confirmed on Tuesday that the leader of al-Qaeda splinter organization the Khorasan group was killed earlier this month, Reuters reported.Muhsin al-Fadhli, part of the terrorist group Khorasan, was traveling on July 8 near Sarmada, a town in northwestern Syria close to the Turkish border when a U.S. drone targeted and struck his vehicle.
