The Pentagon confirmed on Tuesday that the leader of al-Qaeda splinter organization the Khorasan group was killed earlier this month, Reuters reported.Muhsin al-Fadhli, part of the terrorist group Khorasan, was traveling on July 8 near Sarmada, a town in northwestern Syria close to the Turkish border when a U.S. drone targeted and struck his vehicle.
In a press conference on Thursday U.S. President Barack Obama formally apologized for a drone strike that killed aid workers Warren Weinstein, an American held by Al Qaeda since 2011, and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian held since 2012.
An ISIS recruiter was killed in a NATO drone strike on Monday when he was crossing the desert in his car with five other people, according to Afghan officials.
