French MPs vote to end special pension schemes

Description

French MPs agree by 181 votes to 163 to phase out most of the special pension schemes provided for in the first article of the pension reform. These schemes benefit workers at transport provider RATP, energy provider IEG and the Bank of France among others. The vote marks the adoption of the first measure of the government's contested pension reform, which is proceeding at a slow pace since its launch in the Chamber. IMAGES
