US President Joe Biden told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday that another $625 million in military assistance, including four HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, is on the way, the White House says. SOUNDBITE
Ending US military aid to Kyiv would allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to "prevail" in Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan says. "Congress has to decide whether to continue to support the fight for freedom in Ukraine as part of the 50-nation coalition that President (Joe) Biden has built or... ignore the lessons we've learned from history and let Putin prevail," Sullivan tells reporters at the White House. The White House warns that time is running out to fund Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion, after hardline Republicans in Congress blocked US aid for Kyiv. SOUNDBITE
The White House announces a new package of artillery ammunition for Ukraine as the pro-Western country gears up for an expected counter-offensive against the Russian invasion. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says the package will include ammunition for the HIMARS multiple rocket system and artillery rounds. SOUNDBITE
"It is certainly possible that Russia could make additional tactical gains in the coming weeks" against Ukraine, US national security advisor Jake Sullivan says during a White House news briefing. SOUNDBITE
