In hurdle and steeplechase, athletes must run and jump over obstacles in high speed. Accidentally bumping into or knocking over a hurdle does not result in penalty but it does slow down the athlete’s speed. Steeplechase requires skills including running, hurdling and long jumping. The events will take place at Olympic Stadium.
The triple jump competition consists of three actions. The first is a hop, a jump which is landed with the takeoff foot. The second action is the step, which is landed on the opposite foot. The final action taken is the jump, in a movement similar to the long jump. The final jump is landed in a pit full of sand. Each athlete is given three attempts to jump as far as possible.
In the long jump competition, the athlete who jumps the longest wins. The athlete begins running from his or her starting position and takes off from the designated foul line, landing in a sand pit with distance markers. If the athlete happens to cross the front edge of the foul line, this results in a foul jump.

Olympic weightlifting is comprised of two events: the snatch, and the ‘clean and jerk.’ In the snatch, the bar is lifted from the floor to above the athlete’s head in one single motion. The clean and jerk motion is a two-stage movement, lifting the bar from the ground to shoulder height, and then overhead.
Competitors participating in trampoline must make ten contacts with the trampoline during their routines. Each routine may last up to 90 seconds. Each athlete will perform two sets of 10 routines – single, double or triple somersaults, with and without twists.
