Turnout in the South African general election is expected to exceed the previous poll in 2019 poll when 66 percent of registered voters took part, electoral commission chief Sy Mamabolo says. As he spoke in Midrand, thousands were still queueing outside polling stations after nightfall, just over an hour away from planned closure. SOUNDBITE
The UN Secretary-General calls for "complete transparency" in Venezuela following the announced re-election of President Nicolas Maduro, contested by the opposition, says his spokesman. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is disappointed by an Israeli parliament vote against the creation of a Palestinian state, his spokesman says.
