US reporter detained in Russia 'retains fighting spirit' says lawyer

Detained US journalist Evan Gershkovich has retained his "fighting spirit" his lawyer tells journalists after the Wall Street Journal reporter was denied bail in a hearing at a Moscow court on Tuesday. Gershkovich was arrested on March 29, accused of espionage, making him the first foreign journalist arrested for spying since the Soviet era. "He is prepared to prove his right to freely practice journalism" says Maria Korchagina, Gershkovich's lawyer, "he is ready to defend himself." SOUNDBITE
