Sudan fighting: Thousands of civilians began to flee the city, others remained barricaded in their homes


Hundreds of civilians have been killed  since intense fighting first broke out in Sudan on Saturday. On wednesday evening, the army and the rival paramilitary rapid support Forces that it's battling tried and failed to implement another 24 hour truce in Khartoum, a day after a previous attempt also crumbled. Shooting and explosions could still be heard after the 6pm cut offf. There's fighting in several parts of the country but in Khartoum, Sudanese, diplomats, aid workers, many have been trapped by the violence while others have taken their chances and tried to flee. FRANCE 24's Laurent Berstecher explains.
