The fighting in Sudan has caused more than 100,000 people to cross the border, UNHCR spokesperson Olga Sarrado says. UNHCR, the United Nations' refugee agency, is estimating that more than 800,000 people could potentially flee to neighbouring countries as the conflict between Sudan's regular army and paramilitaries continues. During a UN press briefing, Georgios Petropoulos, the head of the OCHA sub-office in Gaza speaking from Rafah says that more than 100,000 people have fled Rafah. SOUNDBITE
At a press conference in Nairobi, Kenya, the head of the UN's refugee agency Filippo Grandi says, "Today we pass the mark of half a million refugees from Sudan, following the beginning of the conflict." He also says that the number of people now internally displaced in the conflict torn nation is now at two million. SOUNDBITE
More than 180 people have been killed and another 1,800 injured in three days of fighting between rival factions in Sudan, the UN's special representative to the country Volker Perthes tells journalist via video-link during a briefing at the UN headquarters in New York. SOUNDBITE
