Top US Republican says debt talks 'productive' but no agreement

Republican US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says Monday crisis talks with Democratic President Joe Biden to avert a looming debt default have been "productive" -- but reveals no deal has been struck. "I felt we had a productive discussion. We don't have an agreement yet, but I did feel the discussion was productive in areas that we have differences of opinion," the top lawmaker tells reporters as he emerges from the White House.
