White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan briefs the press following a phone call between Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu during which the US president told his Israeli counterpart that he is "deeply concerned" about Israel potentially conducting military operations in Rafah, adding, "Israel has not presented us or the world with a plan for how or where they would safely move those civilians." The White House says US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a call that he still backs future statehood for the Palestinians, amid tensions between the two leaders over the issue. "The president still believes in the promise and the possibility of a two-state solution. The White House says US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have spoken about Gaza in their first conversation for nearly a month amid reports of tensions between the leaders. "The two leaders also reviewed the situation in Gaza and the shift to targeted operations that will enable the flow of increasing amounts of humanitarian assistance while keeping the military pressure on Hamas and its leaders," US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters in a press briefing.
