An update is given by the London Fire Brigade after a fire at a block of flats in Dagenham in East London. Assistant Commissioner Patrick Goulbourne who is the on site Incident Commander says firefighters have been working “arduously through the night to bring this fire under control and I can confirm we have now stood down the major incident.” SOUNDBITE
A major incident has been declared by the London Fire Brigade after a fire broke out at a block of flats in Dagenham in East London. Forty fire engines and more than two-hundred firefighters have been at the scene since the fire broke out in the early hours of Monday morning. IMAGES
In the town of Orotova, Tenerife, the last epicentre of the fires which broke out on the island on Tuesday, is being tackled by the emergency services, who are making gains after better-than-expected weather overnight. Helicopters carrying water dampen the flames as large plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the hillside. IMAGES
