Families attend the first funerals for the dozens of victims of a Russian missile strike on a cafe holding a wake for a Ukrainian soldier.
An overnight Russian strike hits the centre of Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, as expectations grow over the start of a long-awaited Ukrainian offensive.
A Russian attack on Kherson in eastern Ukraine on Wednesday killed one person and caused serious damage in the city's centre, the region's governor said, and a Russian drone strike killed another civilian in the frequently targeted city of Nikopol.
Elizabeth Throssell, a spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, says that a strike that killed dozens in the eastern Ukrainian village of Groza was inflicted by "what appeared to be a Russian missile". Most of those killed in Groza were attending a wake when a cafe and shop were struck on 5 October. One eight-year-old boy was counted among the dead.
President Zelenskyy denounced the attack on the store and cafe in the village of Hroza as a “demonstrably brutal Russian crime” and “a completely deliberate act of terrorism.”
