And he specifically wants Democratic senators to recommend nominees to him who are diverse, not just in terms of race or gender, but professionally ― something progressives have been clamoring for for years. In a letter obtained by HuffPost, Biden’s incoming White House counsel Dana Remus tells Democratic senators to try to find public defenders and civil rights attorneys in their states who they think would be a good fit for a federal judgeship.
On Sunday, GOP Sen. John Barrasso said Joe Biden's cabinet nominees are going to face a hard road towards confirmation. According to Politico Barrasson said a Republican-controlled Senate should not expect an easy pathway to confirmation. "It's not going to be a garden party," he said. Barrasso said Biden's nominees will have to "run the gauntlet" towards confirmation. He said Biden's selections resembled a "third term of the Obama administration."
"These are all Biden trials," Donald Trump says as he arrives at a New York courthouse where prosecution and defense teams are set to present opening arguments in the former US president's historic hush-money criminal trial. "I'm here instead of being able to be in Pennsylvania, in Georgia, and lots of other places campaigning," he adds. Trump, 77, has been ordered by the judge to appear in the Manhattan court for the duration of the case, largely keeping him off the campaign trail for weeks as he challenges President Joe Biden for the White House in November's election. Donald Trump blasts President Joe Biden over Iran's major attack on Israel, alleging that his rival in November elections showed American "weakness" in the Middle East. "God bless the people of Israel. They are under attack right now. That's because we show great weakness," he says at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. SOUNDBITE
