Foley Legacy Foundation welcomes the life sentence for El Shafee Elsheikh after the member of the notorious Islamic State kidnap-and-murder cell known as the "Beatles" was sentenced to life in prison by a US court for the deaths of four American hostages in Syria. Registrar of the UN International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Abubacarr M. Tambadou praises "years of hard work, dedication and commitment" after war crimes judges upheld the genocide conviction of former Bosnian Serb military chief Ratko Mladic over the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, Europe's worst act of bloodshed since World War II. The UN tribunal in The Hague rejected Mladic's appeal against his 2017 life sentence for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity over the 1992-5 Bosnian war. SOUNDBITE
