Donald Trump leaves the Trump Tower en route to the Manhattan courtroom, where jurors are to begin deliberating on whether to return the first criminal conviction of a former president in his hush money trial. Donald Trump leaves Trump Tower heading for the Manhattan criminal court as his hush-money trial opens in New York. Trump is going to court as the first US ex-president ever to be criminally prosecuted, a seismic moment for the United States as the presumptive Republican nominee campaigns to re-take the White House. The scandal-plagued 77-year-old is accused of falsifying business records in a scheme to cover up an alleged sexual encounter with adult film actress Stormy Daniels to shield his 2016 election campaign from adverse publicity. Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro arrives at the Sao Paulo rally he called to reject claims he plotted a coup with allies to remain in power after his failed 2022 reelection bid. Investigators say the far-right ex-army captain led a plot to falsely discredit the Brazilian election system and prevent the winner of the vote, leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, from taking power. A week after Lula took office on January 1, 2023, thousands of Bolsonaro supporters stormed the presidential palace, Congress and Supreme Court, urging the military to intervene to overturn what they called a stolen election IMAGES

Brazilian police officers leave the headquarters of Bolsonaro's Liberal Party with seized objects, one of the dozens of raids carried targeting suspects accused of orchestrating an invasion of the seat of power last year. The raids were authorized by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who also ordered that multiple suspects be suspended from public duties and surrender their passports within 24 hours. That included Bolsonaro, whose lawyer and adviser Fabio Wajngarten confirmed in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, that the far-right ex-army captain would comply with the order. IMAGES
