NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says Russian President Vladimir Putin has 'shattered peace' in Europe during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda, on the sixth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. SOUNDBITE
US Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin rejects Russian President Vladimir Putin's demands that Ukraine withdraw its troops from territory claimed by Moscow to end the Kremlin's invasion. Speaking in Brussels at a meeting of NATO defence ministers, Austin says "Putin has occupied, illegally occupied, sovereign Ukrainian territory. He is not in any position to dictate to Ukraine what they must do to bring about peace." SOUNDBITE
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg on Friday welcomed a peace mission by African leaders to Ukraine, but warned only a "just" solution that treats Russia as the aggressor would work. Stoltenberg was speaking to the media after a meeting of NATO ministers. SOUNDBITE
Russian President Vladimir Putin wants "to use winter as a weapon of war" in his Ukrainian operation, says NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Bucharest, ahead of a meeting with the alliance's foreign ministers. A weapon based on Russia's attempt "to deprive the Ukrainians of water, electricity, light and heating" says Stoltenberg. SOUNDBITE
