Police in Armenia arrest hundreds of protesters as opposition supporters seek to spread their month-long anti-government demonstrations throughout Yerevan. Dozens of protesters take to the streets of Senegal's capital after two Senegalese opposition figures were arrested. Barthelemy Dias and Ousmane Sonko, both fierce critics of President Macky Sall, were detained as they headed in a motorcade to the appeals court in Dakar for a hearing involving Dias' conviction in a fatal shooting. Rallies resume in Khabarovsk, some 6,100 kilometres (3,800 miles) east of Moscow, to protest the arrest of regional governor Sergei Furgal in a murder probe, though on a smaller scale. The US State Department rejects an arrest warrant issued by a Venezuelan court for opposition presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, who claims to have won the country's disputed July presidential election. "The arbitrary and politically motivated action demonstrates the extraordinary lengths to which Nicolas Maduro will go to try and maintain power following his attempt to steal the July 28th presidential election," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller tells reporters. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky on a historic visit to Kyiv, where he is pushing for a solution to end more than two years of war with Russia.
