Ligue 1 : Nîmes attend l'OM de pied ferme !
British and European citizens and businesses are hastily adjusting to new arrangements since the United Kingdom started its new relationship with the European Union on January 1. It's a relationship based on a deal that was struck well into the eleventh hour on December 24, just eight days before it came into force. To talk more about future relations between the EU and the UK, we speak to the Vice-President of the European Commission, Maros Sefcovic.
In this edition we look at how relations between Brussels and Budapest soured over democratic values, and also at how the cultural sector can be revived post-pandemic.
Right now, the European Union is the UK's largest trading partner, with France and Britain in particular enjoying extremely close economic ties. But can that continue post-Brexit? With the nature of the UK's future trading relationship with the bloc still largely undefined, how are French businesses preparing? We speak to Olivier Campenon, Vice President of the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Andrej Plenkovic is prime minister of Croatia, the country that has just taken on the rotating presidency of the European Union for the next six months. There are some huge issues for the EU to confront as 2020 begins. Within the next few weeks, the UK will cease to be a member. There are also battles looming over the budget, climate goals, plus prospective new members from the Western Balkans. This is all happening amid renewed worries about security after top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike. Plenkovic sat down with FRANCE 24's Catherine Nicholson.
