Biden has extended federal student loan forbearance through September 30 by executive order. The forbearance was put in place by the CARES Act in March 2020. It has since been extended several times, according to Business Insider. Federal student loan payments will remain paused through September 30, with interest rates at 0%. This puts millions of Americans at ease as the economy continues to suffer due to the virus.
US stocks closed at record highs on Wednesday after President Joe Biden was sworn into office. Tech stocks drove the market following an optimistic earnings report from Netflix. According to Business Insider, the Netflix report sent shares soaring nearly 20%. Tech shares didn't stop with Netflix, Alphabet rose to an all-time high with a 6% surge. Alibaba climbed 7% after it's founder, Jack Ma, made an appearance in a videoconference. Ma had not been seen in public for months prior to the call. Gold rose 1.57% on the news of the 46th President's inauguration to $1,869.10 per ounce.

The measure, which will last through January 23, follows increased disturbances on airplanes since the deadly riot at the US Capitol. Delta Air Lines is prohibiting passengers from checking firearms en-route to Washington D.C.-area airports as a precautionary move ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, the company said Thursday. The new rule, which will take effect on Saturday and last through January 23, is part of a larger effort by to prevent more violence in the nation's capital after last week's deadly attempted insurrection at the US Capitol building.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham criticized the House impeachment efforts on Wednesday. Graham appeared to shade Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, says Business Insider. "It is a rushed process that, over time, will become a threat to future presidents," Graham said. He continued with, "As to Senate leadership, I fear they are making the problem worse, not better." Graham broke from Trump and firmly acknowledged that Biden won the 2020 race. However, on Tuesday, Graham accompanied Trump on Air Force One for a visit to Alamo, Texas.
