Guayaquil, Sep 28 (EFE).- Twenty-four inmates were killed and 49 others injured Tuesday in a clash inside a prison in the coastal city of Guayaquil, Ecuadorian authorities said.The nature of the fatal wounds indicates that firearms and explosives were involved, police district commander Fausto Buenaño said.The injured prisoners were receiving medical treatment outside on the prison grounds, he said. Seven people were killed, including two children, with 12 more injured when 7 gunmen armed with assault rifles stormed Roosevelt Hospital in Guatemala City to free a jailed gang leader during a medical check-up on Wednesday. The gangster, identified as 29-year-old Anderson Daniel Cabrera Cifuentes, an alleged member of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13 gang, was brought to the hospital by three guards for a general check-up at 8:19 AM local time. The shooting started as soon as he entered the premises.
