At least two police officers were involved in a shooting Saturday night in Salt Lake City that sparked riots, local media say. Julie Noce reports.
An Oologah, Oklahoma police officer crashed his cruiser after he was shot in the head during a police chase near the Oklahoma-Kansas border Thursday night.
The officer-involved shooting that left one man dead Sunday will be investigated “very, very carefully,” according to Police Commission President Steve Soboroff.
Clashes broke out in Thessaloniki between groups of young people and Greek police at the end of a demonstration to commemorate the murder of a teenager by a police officer 14 years ago. The demonstrations were part of planned annual commemorations to mark the 2008 death of Alexandros Grigoropoulos, a 15-year-old fatally shot by police. IMAGES
The girlfriend of 30-year-old Robert Howard reported him missing Wednesday night. He was later found to have been shot to death inside a vehicle. According to Newser, the grisly murder was made even more horrifying by the discovery of who the killer was. The suspect is an on-duty police officer in Memphis, Tennessee, and authorities say the vehicle was his own patrol car. Patric Ferguson, 29, faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges, and he's been fired from the force. Ferguson confronted Howard outside a home, forced him into the back of the squad car, drove less than a half-mile away, and fatally shot him. Another man has been charged with helping Ferguson dispose of the body. Police say the remains were later discovered near a bridge.
