The air show, organised by both the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Rostec State Corporation, involved Russian helicopters such as the Mi-26, Mi-35, Ka-52 models, as well as aircraft such as the Aermacchi MB-339s, T-50 and Sukhoi Su-34. The event, taking place from July 18-23, is set to feature some 84 aircraft from eight airborne crews performing over the course of the event, in which more than 770 companies representing 30 countries will participate.
The new MiG-35, a classified 4++ generation Russian fighter jet, was showcased at the MAKS-2017 air show in Zhukovski, Moscow region, on Tuesday. The multifunctional fighter jet has enhanced maneuverability and is designed to overcome large-scale air defence systems. The jet will reportedly be taken into service in 2018, after tests are completed, with plans to export a version of the model to more than 30 different countries.
Footage released by the US Air Force, shot on 14 March 2023, shows two Russian Su-27 aircraft flying close to a US MQ-9 unmanned aircraft over the Black Sea. The US Air Force has said the Russian jets conducted "an unsafe and unprofessional intercept", dumping fuel on the aircraft and striking its propeller, forcing Washington to bring down the MQ-9 Reaper drone in international waters. Moscow denied its aircraft had damaged the unmanned drone and said on Wednesday that it would try to retrieve the wreckage and also warned that it would react "proportionately" to any future US "provocations" as tensions. One of the most epic drag races ever took place at the 2017 MAKS Air Show in Russia on Saturday - pitting a MIG-29UB fighter jet against a Formula 1 race car. The Formula 1 vehicle took the lead in the beginning but the MIG's engines warmed up quickly and the jet quickly overtook the race car before going airborn. The action took place on the grounds of the Zhukovsky airfield outside Moscow, and featured some of the world's fastest four-wheeled vehicles racing different aircraft on the race track in a mini event called the Festival of Speed.
An all-new hybrid 'universal transport' prototype was showcased at the MAKS airshow in Russia on Wednesday, called the BORTS Triton, a wheeled offroad vehicle which has also has hovercraft capabilities as well an aerochute, which means that this one of a kind auto can conquer the land, water, and skies. The two-seater SUV is adept on land as an electrical car, uses an aerochute when converted into a plane and becomes a hovercraft once on water all thanks to a low-noise, ten-blade propellor.
