Mercedes-Benz Media Night at IAA 2017 - Presentation AMG Project ONE and Talk with Lewis Hamilton Follow us @AutoMotoTV ...
The development of the Mercedes-AMG Project ONE hypercar is entering a new phase, so bringing it ever closer to production standard: several pre-production models are now practising their fast laps at the company's own proving ground and technology centre at Immendingen. Testing has thus now largely transferred from the test stands to concentrate more and more on test tracks. For the first time, the project leaders have also authorised testing of the comprehensively electrified and highly complex hybrid power unit with its full output of more than 735 kW (1000 hp).
125 years ago: the start of a unique success story. In July 1894, the world's first competitive Horseless Carriages Contest takes place from Paris to Rouen. This is the initial spark that kindles Mercedes-Benz's successful motorsport history as two of the winning cars are powered by engines developed by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. For 125 years, engines and vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz and its predecessor brands have secured countless triumphs. Innovative technology + an the will to succeed = success. From the first competitive car race in history in 1894 to current motorsport events: the motorsport activities of Mercedes-Benz and its predecessor brands tell a success story that has its roots in the early days of the automobile. Since the 19th century, these racing and rally cars have frequently been seen in winning positions in sporting competitions. Their triumphs testify to innovative technology, the drivers' uncompromising will to win and excellent teamwork. No other brand has the topic of motorsport built into its DNA over such a long period and as intensively as Mercedes-Benz.
With a little over four weeks to go until the start of the 2019 FIA Formula One season, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport today completed the first laps with its 2019 challenger. Named the Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+, the 2019 contender ran on the 2.98 km Silverstone International Circuit this morning with Valtteri Bottas behind the wheel, to be followed by Lewis Hamilton this afternoon.“The 2019 season will be a new challenge for all of us,” said Toto Wolff, Team Principal & CEO. “The regulations have changed quite substantially. We have to start from scratch, we need to prove ourselves again – against our own expectations and against our competitors. We start the season with zero points, so we’re taking nothing for granted and there’s absolutely no feeling of entitlement to be at the front. In fact, with the regulation change for the new season, every team can have a shot at the title and we’re seeing all of them as a potential threat.”Today’s running constitutes an official 100 km filming day, which the team also uses as a final systems check before the first pre-season test in Barcelona.
