In Antakya, Turkey, a survivor is pulled from the rubble of a collapsed building by a group of rescue workers, on the 8th day after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the region. The toll from the Turkey-Syria has risen above 35,000, as rescue teams have started to wind down the search for survivors. IMAGES

Police from Russia's Stavropol Region arrived at the scene of a car accident to find a horse and foal stuck in mud nearby. The foal was born shortly before the accident and the team was headed back to their stall when both horses broke loose. A police officer and the horses’ owner joined efforts to pull the foal out of mud. The mother horse restlessly watched as her baby emerged from the sludge.
