The United States wants the war between Israel and Hamas to "end as soon as possible," the White House says, after Israel's defense minister told a top US official the conflict would last several months more. "How long that's going to take? I can't predict...but obviously we all want it to be over as soon as possible," US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby tells reporters in a briefing.
