The weekly Saturday protests in support of Palestinians returns to the streets of London, with police estimating around 15,000-20,000 in attendance. This comes a day after a US veto blocked a UN Security Council call for a ceasefire. Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking around 240 hostages -- 138 of whom remain in Gaza, Israeli officials say. In response, Israel vowed to destroy Hamas and launched a military offensive in Gaza that has killed at least 17,490 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. Several thousand protesters march to the Israeli embassy in Athens in solidarity with the Palestinian people, with many protesters chanting "Free Palestine" whilst calling for immediate ceasefire in the deadly war between Israel and Hamas.
