Images of Blendecques, a flooded town in northern France, and the Aa river as the red alert for flooding was lifted in the Pas-de-Calais region, where water continues to recede and pumping operations are due to begin after the second episode of exceptional flooding in two months that has severely affected residents. Rivers overflow their banks across a large swath of southwest France after heavy rains lashed the region, leading to evacuations of dozens of residents. In the small town of Peyrehorade, in the Landes region, the flood waters are slowly starting to recede. IMAGES
