Nobel Chemistry Prize winner Emmanuelle Charpentier says she hopes the award will make young female scientists realise that "nothing is impossible", after she and Jennifer Doudna of the US won for the gene-editing technique known as the CRISPR-Cas9 DNA snipping "scissors", the first time a Nobel science prize has gone to a women-only team. The Nobel Chemistry Prize is awarded to a trio of chemists for laying the foundation for a more functional form of chemistry. Americans Carolyn Bertozzi and Barry Sharpless, together with Denmark's Morten Meldal are honoured for "for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry". The award marks the second Nobel for 81-year-old Sharpless, who won the chemistry Nobel in 2001. SOUNDBITE
