WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus offers his "warmest congratulations" to doctor Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman, who just won the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for their work in developing the technology that led to mNRA vaccines against Covid 19. The World Health Organization declared Covid-19 a pandemic in March 2020 and the first mRNA vaccines were approved for use against the illness in December that year. The Nobel Chemistry Prize is awarded to a trio of chemists for laying the foundation for a more functional form of chemistry.
