French police used tear gas to disperse protestors during a demonstration against massive water reserves in western France. More than 3000 police are on the ground for the second day of demontrations against the agro-industry projects. IMAGES
Trial resumes for Benoit Feuillu and four other alleged organisers of two banned demonstrations in western rural France. The activists argue they fight to preserve water and are opposing large artificials reservoirs or "bassines" which they see as a way to monopolise water resources for the farming industry. in October 2022 and specially, in March 2023, the protests turned into violent clashes with police with many protesters injured.
