President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that he visited military positions near the frontline town of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, as a Russian strike battered a residential building, injuring dozens.
There is word of another drone strike by Ukraine inside of Russia this time at an airfield near the Ukrainian border. This comes a day after Moscow blamed Ukraine for two drone strikes at other airfields deep inside Russia hundreds of kilometers from the border. In the meantime, Moscow has unleashed another round of missile strikes inside Ukraine aimed at the country's energy infrastructure. Ukrainian president Zelensky says that there were about 70 incoming missiles and that his forces shot most of them down. FRANCE 24's Emerald Maxwell tells us more.
A line of trucks, vans and cars stretched a kilometre or more on the outskirts of Kherson on Saturday after days of Russian shelling on the southern Ukrainian city.
At least 10 others were injured, according to the Ukrainian army.
Ukraine suffered sweeping blackouts and water supplies were cut to large parts of Kyiv on Monday after another wave of Russian missile strikes on key infrastructure. The Ukrainian army's commander in chief, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said on Telegram that Russia had launched 55 cruise missiles and dozens of other munitions at "civilian targets" across the country, days after Russia blamed Ukraine for drone attacks on its fleet in the Black Sea.
