Cela représente énormément de neurones et de connexions synaptiques. » Si des implants cérébraux existent déjà, ils restent beaucoup plus simples que les dispositifs évoqués dans l’épisode 1, et notamment les publicités déclamées par Amanda : « Des entreprises comme Neuralink, dirigée par Elon Musk, font des recherches au niveau du cortex moteur. Si on le stimule, on peut théoriquement produire des mouvements chez vous, chez moi ou chez un animal qu’on aurait implanté. Mais cela donnerait l’impression d’être contrôlé par une entité extérieure. Et on pourrait peut-être faire bouger une souris dans une direction particulière, mais c’est bien le maximum qu’on pourrait faire. Il faut bien comprendre qu’une technologie qui fonctionne déjà à un niveau très simple ne pourrait pas nécessairement être améliorée dans le futur. » Valentin Wyart est donc clair sur les dispositifs mis en place dans Des gens ordinaires : « Cette technologie, je pense, n’existera jamais. Et heureusement ». Vous pouvez dormir tranquilles.
