Around 1,000 flights to and from France were cancelled Friday as the country's air traffic controllers went on strike, causing delays across European airspace.

  • Paris Waterways Closed and Road Traffic Disrupted as Seine Continues to Rise

    The river Seine remained flooded after torrential downpours further upstream continued to cause disruption to transportation across Paris on Wednesday. Roads and tunnels near the river were closed. The Paris Regional C train (RER C) line was partially shut down. All river traffic, including cruise boats, was suspended because the raised water levels means they are unable to pass beneath the bridges. Some residents were forced to use a small boat to get to work, as roads and walkways near the riverbanks have become flooded.
