With the 60th anniversary of the Evian accords that ended the bloodshed signed on March 18, 1962, we look at how the ghosts of Algeria's war of independence from France still haunt both countries, six decades on.
On March 18, 1962, after almost eight years of brutal war, France and Algeria signed a series of ceasefire agreements in the French spa town of Évian, paving the way for Algeria's independence. But the initial relief was followed by a particularly violent transition period. The OAS, a dissident far-right French paramilitary group that refused Algerian independence, stepped up its bombings and assassinations, leading to the departure of hundreds of thousands of French settlers from Algeria. Sixty years after Évian, our reporters have tracked down witnesses and key players from this crucial chapter in the history of the two countries.
People at the center. This is the philosophy with which Automobili Lamborghini dedicates a video to its employees to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary. A history that has seen incredible achievements, innovations and breakthroughs, all with one common denominator: human capital. With this video, the company wants to celebrate and thank all the people who, day by day and throughout these 60 years, have been and continue to be committed to making Lamborghini cars true global icons. Because “Lamborghini is everyone who has shaped it.”
