Taliban forces take control of Kabul's former 'Green Zone'

Kabul, Aug 17 (EFE/EPA).- Taliban forces have taken control of Kabul's former 'Green Zone,' the fortified zone of concrete blast walls and checkpoints where diplomatic quarter is situated. The Green Zone fell silent as foreign missions were moved to the airport.Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar earlier in the day declared victory and an end to the decades-long war in Afghanistan, a day after the insurgents entered Kabul to take control of the country.
