Red devil pinatas lined the streets of Guatemala city on December 7th as city residents prepared for a firy annual tradition - La Quema del Diablo, or burning of the devil festival. Guatemalans have gathered in the streets on December 7th to burn effigies of Satan for over 300 years. The ritual 'cleansing' of bad spirits from their homes marks the start of Christmas festivities in the Central American country. But it’s not only the devil who gets set alight, Guatemalans also pick up pinatas of people who aren't very well-liked. Pinatas of US President Donald Trump sold especially well this year.
