Colombo, Jun 9 (EFE/EPA).- Sri Lanka on Wednesday began vaccinating pregnant women over 30 of years of age against COVID-19 with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.After some delay in the verification of the safety and suitability of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women, Sri Lanka kicked off the campaign at the Castle Street Maternity Hospital and the community clinic of the Medical Officer of Health, Piliyandala. Sri Lanka is one of the first countries to receive and administer the vaccines following the World Health Organisation's approval for emergency use. Total number of doses received as donations by the Chinese government and purchases by Sri Lanka so far totals 3.1 million as of 9 June 2021. (Camera: CHAMILA KARUNARATHNE).
