Trucks are loaded with aid on the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt. Alarm has surged about the spiralling humanitarian crisis in Gaza amid the war sparked by the October 7 Hamas attack. Thousands of buildings have been destroyed and more than one million people displaced in the territory that has been under siege and largely deprived of water, food and other basic supplies. IMAGES
UN vehicles and empty trucks head to the Palestinian side of the border with Egypt as they wait for the border to open to allow trucks carrying aid to cross. Some 175 lorries stuffed with vital medicines, food, and water stretched into the distance at the Rafah crossing with Egypt, which has removed concrete roadblocks and is scrambling to repair the route into besieged Gaza -- the only one not controlled by Israel.
