The Malta-flagged Rojen, headed for the UK, arrives for inspection in the Bosphorus strait of Istanbul. The cargo ship carrying 13,000 tons of grain departed from the Chornomorsk port in Odessa, Ukraine last week, and is now expected to move on to the port of Derince in northwest Turkey. The Rojen is one of the first grain ships to depart from Ukraine since UN, Ukrainian, Russian and Turkish representatives brokered an agreement in July promising the safe transportation of grain from Ukraine's ports. Millions of tons of grain remain in the ports due to the naval blockade that followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. IMAGES
The Razoni, the ship carrying the first shipment of grain exported from Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion on 24 February, crosses the Bosphorus "on its way to Lebanon", the Turkish defence ministry said. It is continuing its journey after completing a high-stakes inspection by a team made up of representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN. IMAGES
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Russia 'should not have' opted out of the grain export deal. "This should be restored as quickly as possible," he tells reporters at a press conference. "The bottom line is, it's unconscionable," Blinken said. SOUNDBITE
