Mexico City removes iconic palms suffering from disease

Description

The palm trees adorning and shading the central Mexico City neighborhood of Narvarte are an emblematic feature of the capital, but the trees are being removed, with authorities and experts citing disease and climate change as necessitating the cull. For many residents, the trees have been in place for as long as they can remember. "It's taking away the essence of the neighborhood" says Ivan Felipe.
