Petit à petit, la sonde spatiale Voyager 1 s’approche d’un cap très symbolique : celui du jour-lumière de distance avec la Terre. Du jamais-vu. Voyager 1 a quitté la Terre il y a un peu plus de 48 ans et 2 mois. Toujours active, elle poursuit son odyssée de plus en plus loin dans le cosmos, tant bien que mal, là où aucune autre mission ne s’était jamais rendue auparavant.
C’est l’un des phénomènes astronomiques d’août 2024 à ne pas manquer. Dans la nuit du mardi 20 au mercredi 21 août, la Lune occulte la planète Saturne. Cette occultation fait partie d’une longue série : comme l’explique l’Institut de mécanique céleste et de calcul des éphémérides (IMCCE), « cette année, la Lune occulte la planète Saturne tous les mois à partir du mois d’avril ». Seule celle du 21 août est observable depuis la France métropolitaine. Saturne est l’une des planètes du système solaire que l’on peut voir à l’œil nu dans le ciel. « Toutefois, seule une aide optique (paire de jumelles, lunette, télescope) fera apparaître ses anneaux, magnifiant ainsi le phénomène », précise l’IMCCE.
