Belgium celebrates Saint Nicholas Day with black character Queen Nikkolah

Description

To celebrate Saint Nicholas Day, Belgium has added a new black female character - Queen Nikkolah - to the holiday's roster. While the move has stirred up controversy with far-right politicians accusing the character of threatening traditions, many have embraced Queen Nikkolah and see her as a modern and feminist version to colonial portrayals of Saint Nicholas and his sidekick Black Pete.
