Images from the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don, where the Wagner mercenary group has taken control of key military sites, show armoured vehicles and Wagner soldiers lining the streets as residents walk around them or watch on in groups. In an earlier televised address, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged a "difficult" situation was unfolding in the city as Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin vowed to oust the Russian military's top brass. Zelensky meets military officials and hands out awards to Ukrainian servicemen, who have been holding back a fierce and months-long Russian military campaign against the city. The brutal trench warfare and artillery battles around Bakhmut -- once known for its vineyards and cavernous salt mines -- have flattened large parts of the city and its surroundings. Ukrainian tanks head to Kherson following its liberation November 11 after an 8-month long Russian occupation, which left much of the city mined and in ruins.
