President Joe Biden marked the second anniversary of the murder of George Floyd on Wednesday, on day after a school shooting that came as a cruel reminder of his powerlessness to rein in America's violent demons.
On August 29, a young albino child was kidnapped and his 21-year-old mother murdered in the remote village of Ambatolampy in south-eastern Madagascar. Recent years have seen a rise in murders of Albinos on the island, with their body parts often used in rituals and ceremonies. The crime triggered a local riot, with an angry mob storming the local police station to kill the apprehended suspects. Law enforcement officers fired on the crowd, killing around 20 people. The Texas town of Uvalde is paying tribute to Amerie Jo Garza, who had just turned 10 when she lost her life in the Robb Elementary School shooting. Relatives are gathering at the funeral home where her casket is located, across the street from the school where 19 children and two teachers were killed by a gunman armed with a semi-automatic rifle.
