  • Europe Bans Flights From UK As Mutant COVID-19 Virus Sweeps Across London

    After an alarming outbreak of a mutant coronavirus, multiple countries have canceled flights from the United Kingdom. According to Business Insider, the move was prompted by fears around the new variant of COVID-19. The mutant coronavirus is believed to be up to 70% more transmissible than the original strain. In order to stop its spread, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that London and surrounding areas would suddenly be plunged into lockdown. Dutch authorities confirmed at least one case of this COVID-19 variant had reached the Netherlands. Flights from the UK to The Netherlands are canceled until January 1st, as are those to Belgium. On Sunday afternoon, Italian foreign minister Luigi di Maio said that the government would be suspending all travel from the UK.

    Beijing, Aug 9 (EFE/EPA).- China has imposed mass domestic travel restrictions, as well as international travel restrictions for its residents, allowing Chinese people to leave the country only under certain conditions, in order to curb the new outbreak of Covid-19.The coronavirus outbreak, caused mainly by the Delta variant and what has now become China's worst outbreak in more than a year, was first detected on 20 July among airport cleaning staff in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, and has already infected hundreds of people and spread to over two dozen cities including Wuhan, where the coronavirus first emerged, and the capital Beijing. Since the Delta outbreak began spreading across China, the authorities have imposed lockdowns on some residential areas, Covid-19 mass testing, domestic and international travel restrictions.     Colombo, May 17 (EFE/EPA).- The Government of Sri Lanka has imposed island-wide partial travel restriction as a preventive measure against the spread of the COVID-19.Sri Lanka is facing a new wave of COVID-19 infections and the number of cases is increasing day by day.
