    Several hundred migrants gather behind barbed wire on the Belarusian side of the Polish-Belarusian border. For several months, thousands of migrants, encouraged by Alexander Lukashenko's regime, have been trying to cross the border illegally to enter the European Union. Poland has sent thousands of soldiers to the area, enforced a state of emergency in the region complete with a media blackout.     Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko visits a centre for the hundreds of migrants that remain in Belarus after attempting to cross into the EU via the Polish border. Thousands of migrants -- mainly Iraqi Kurds -- have spent months trying to get into the European Union from Belarus.   • Polish police publish images of cleared border area

    Images released by Polish Police show the area along the border with Belarus close to the border town of Kuznica which has been entirely cleared of migrant encampments. Some 2,000 migrants who were living in freezing conditions at the border have been moved to a nearby warehouse. The West accuses Belarus of artificially creating the crisis by bringing in would-be migrants, mostly from the Middle East, and taking them to the border with promises of an easy crossing into the EU. Belarus has denied the claim, instead criticising the EU for not taking in the migrants. IMAGES
