China OKs commercial use of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine

Beijing, Dec 31 (EFE/EPA).- China on Thursday greenlighted the commercial use of a homegrown coronavirus vaccine after an interim analysis of clinical trial results showed it is more than 79 percent effective against Covid-19.State-run Xinhua news agency reported that the government granted “conditional marketing authorization for a self-developed Covid-19 vaccine.” (Camera: WU HONG).     World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the WHO has approved the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use -- the first Chinese jab to receive the WHO's green light. The UN health agency has signed off on the two-dose vaccine, which is already being deployed in dozens of countries around the world.
