Mandalay, Apr 15 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar security forces opened fire Thursday at a demonstration of medical personnel in Mandalay and detained about 20 people in a new day of protests against the military junta that seized power during the Feb. 1 coup, the local press reported. According to data from the Association for the Assistance of Political Prisoners, at least 714 people have died due to the military repression, while more than 3,000 people have been detained, including the leader of the deposed government Aung San Suu Kyi.The Myanmar Army justifies the coup on alleged electoral fraud in November’s elections, in which Suu Kyi's party won a landslide victory, as it did in 2015, with the endorsement of international observers. Mandalay, Apr 11 (EFE/EPA).- Myanmar security forces have killed at least 82 anti-coup protesters in a daylong violent crackdown in Bago city near Yangon, a monitoring group said Sunday.The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) said that Bago became a "killing field" Friday in a “dawn to dusk" clampdown on the protesters in the city, about 70 km (43 miles) northeast of Yangon.The group warned that the casualty figures were "likely much higher." Bangkok, Apr 1 (EFE).- The special representative of Myanmar’s deposed civilian government called Thursday for a foreign military intervention in Myanmar to stop the violence of the military junta, which has killed more than 530 civilians, including children, since the Feb. 1 coup.In an interview with EFE, Htin Linn Aung said foreign military intervention is the only way to stop the killings of civilians while advocating the creation of a federal army with ethnic minorities and avoiding considering the persecuted Rohingya as citizens.
