France’s PM Castex suspends all Brazil-France flights amid rise in Covid-19 cases

Description

France announced on Tuesday it is to suspend all flights to and from Brazil to try and limit the spread of an aggressive variant of the coronavirus. French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced it, following the advice of doctors who say that the Brazilian strain known as P1 is to blame for a sharp rise in Brazil’s death toll during last month. Four weeks ago, this variant, just like the South African strain, was thought to be responsible for only 6% of Covid-19 cases in France.
